Frequently Asked Questions

If you can’t find an answer to your question please reach out to us and we will happily help you.

Are these butterflies real?

YES!

Where do the butterflies come from?

We raise the butterflies on our farms in Peru.

Do you kill or catch the butterflies?

All our butterflies die naturally before we pick them up and preserve them.

How long do butterflies live?

Most butterflies live less than two weeks.

What's the difference between butterflies and moths? There is no exact rule. Typically moths fly at night while butterflies fly in the daylight. Also, moths come from a cocoon, while butterflies come from a chrysalis.  The most noticeable difference is in their antennas. Butterflies have fine antennas, while moths have fluffy antennas.

Are the butterflies preserved?

Yes, very well. We start by injecting them with a preservative. Then, take tweezers, break the butterfly apart into 14 pieces and glue it back together. This makes a fragile piece sturdy. Giving it a lifespan of 80 to 100 years.

Can the frames be hung?

All our frames come with a hook on the top of the frame so they can be hung.

How can I display the frames?

We like to hang the frames on the wall, place on a shelf or put it in a picture frame holder.

How can I see both sides?

We have customers who hang the frame in front of a mirror or they place it in a picture frame holder so it can be picked up and looked at.

Can I place the frame in a window?

This is something that we do not suggest. Direct sunlight can bleach out the color of the butterfly overtime reducing their lifespan.

Can I place the frame in the bathroom?

Yes! The bathroom is safe for our butterflies. The only thing we wouldn’t suggest is placing them in a place that has high humidity for long periods of time for example in a non air-conditioned basement.

Do the frames ship well?

The frames ship very well! The butterfly is broken in 14 individual pieces before being glued back together so the butterfly has been completely reinforced. The frames are professionally packaged but a local small business in Charleston.

Who do you ship with?

All frames are shipped with USPS unless you contact us directly and request something else. We find that USPS tend to handle our frames with a little more care.

Where do you ship?

We ship worldwide.

What is the price of shipping?

The shipping price will vary depending on the which frames you purchase and where it’s going. Some frames have a set price, however if you order our larger pieces or multiple frames a separate shipping invoice will be mailed to you after purchase.

Do you make a profit on shipping?

We do not make any money off shipping. We charge the raw cost of shipping with the professional packaging company.

Is my order insured?

Yes, if you have a problem when the frame arrives please contact us immediately.

Can I cancel my order?

Once the order has shipped out we can no longer cancel your order. You can return the frame to us at your own cost and once the frame is received by us then you will receive a refund excluding the shipping cost.
